Between the main team, West Coast Avengers, Unity Squad, Young, Academy, USAvengers and the other splinter teams there have been dozens of members, at least.

The founding team consisted of:

Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man (Hank Pym) and the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne).

Captain America joined shortly after and led a revamped team consisting of himself, Quicksilver, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch.

Other long time members are Black Panther, Vision, Wonder Man, Black Widow, Black Knight, Tigra, Captain Marvel, She Hulk, Quasar and War Machine.

Characters from other teams have joined the Avengers as well.

Beast was a member for several years in the 70’s.

Wolverine joined in the early 2000’s and stayed on until his “death”.

Thing, Storm, Mantis, Mr. Fantastic, the Human Torch , Invisible Woman, Rogue, Sunfire, Cable, Cannonball, Sunspot and Havok were part of one Avengers team or another over the years.

Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Dr. Strange were other long time heroes that finally joined up in the early 2000’s as well.
