Biggest Movie Releases Still Ahead in 2026: From Spider-Man to Avengers: Doomsday

Lead: August 2026 is already here and the second half of the year still has several major titles lined up. Here's a straightforward look at the films that are most likely to matter between now and the end of December.

Recent and current releases

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey opened on July 17 and continues to hold screens. The film, shot entirely with IMAX cameras, stars Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and others. Early word has focused on its scale and visual ambition.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived on July 31. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in a story positioned as a more personal chapter after the events of No Way Home. It remains one of the biggest theatrical draws of the mid-year period.

August slate

Horror fans get Insidious: Out of the Further on August 21. The same period also brings Jason Statham's action film Mutiny. On August 28 the long-delayed Coyote vs. Acme finally reaches theatres. The live-action and animation hybrid follows Wile E. Coyote as he sues the Acme Corporation, with Will Forte and John Cena among the cast.

Indian audiences have a busy month as well. Yash leads Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (August 26), while Hindi titles such as Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 are also scheduled around mid-to-late August.

• The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping arrives on November 20 as the next chapter in the franchise.
• December 18 currently holds both Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, creating one of the busiest holiday release dates of the year.
• Family animation continues with titles already in the August calendar, including the latest PAW Patrol film.
