July carry-overs still dominating

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (July 17) continues its theatrical run. Shot entirely on IMAX cameras with Matt Damon as Odysseus and a stacked supporting cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya, it remains one of the major event films of the summer.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived on July 31. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in what early reactions describe as a more grounded and emotional chapter after No Way Home. It’s currently the biggest superhero title of the mid-year window.

August brings a mix of genres. Insidious: Out of the Further lands on August 21, continuing the long-running horror franchise. On the same weekend or shortly after, Jason Statham’s Mutiny offers pure action for audiences looking for something more straightforward.

The long-delayed Coyote vs. Acme finally reaches theatres on August 28. The live-action/animation hybrid stars Will Forte as a lawyer representing Wile E. Coyote against the Acme Corporation, with John Cena in a supporting role. After years of delays, it’s one of the more unusual releases of the year.

On the Indian side, Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (August 26) is one of the bigger pan-India titles of the month, while Hindi releases including Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 fill the mid-August window.
