New on OTT This Week (Oct 5–11, 2026): 10 Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend

The second weekend of October has turned into a proper streaming feast. Netflix alone dropped a Ben Affleck thriller, a sea-monster limited series from Canada and a weekly K-drama, while South Indian cinema brought its theatrical hits home in five languages. If you only have one free evening, this guide will help you spend it well.

Below are the ten biggest new arrivals on OTT for the week of October 5 to 11, 2026, grouped by language, with the platform, release date, genre and a spoiler-free reason to press play. You can also follow more picks like these on the Movie Time page on WebyPost.

Hollywood and International Picks

1. Animals (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 · Language: English · Genre: Crime thriller (rated R)

Ben Affleck directs, co-writes and stars as a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped in the middle of the campaign. Raising the ransom pulls him and his wife (Kerry Washington) into choices that could wreck everything they have built. Gillian Anderson plays a high-powered fixer and Steven Yeun is the campaign manager. The film also got a limited theatrical run on the same day.

Why watch: It is a grown-up, pressure-cooker thriller in the vein of Affleck's earlier crime films, with a cast that rarely misses.

2. Below (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 8, 2026 · Language: English · Genre: Supernatural horror limited series (6 episodes)

In a remote fishing village in Newfoundland, an unidentified sea creature starts terrorising the town, and fisherman Calvin Penney (Josh Hartnett) has to protect his family and neighbours. Charlie Heaton plays his son Wade and Mackenzie Davis is a visiting marine researcher. The show comes from Jesse McKeown (The Umbrella Academy) and premiered at TIFF in September.

Why watch: Six tight episodes, cold Atlantic atmosphere and a slow-burn creature mystery that's perfect for Halloween season. If man-versus-nature stories are your thing, pair it with our list of top 30 survival movies.

3. 100 Days of Deception (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 10, 2026 (new episodes every Saturday and Sunday until November 29) · Language: Korean · Genre: Historical spy romance-thriller

Set in 1930s Gyeongseong under Japanese rule, Kim You-jung plays a gifted pickpocket who goes undercover inside the Government-General for the independence army, opposite GOT7's Park Jin-young. The 16-episode drama airs first on tvN in Korea and streams worldwide on Netflix.

Why watch: Period costumes, a con-artist heroine and a double-agent romance give you a weekly appointment for the next two months.

4. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Digital rental)

Available from: October 6, 2026 on Apple TV and Prime Video (rent or buy) · Language: English · Genre: Superhero action

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon in this summer's big Marvel release, now available to watch at home after its theatrical run.

Why watch: If you skipped the cinema, this is your chance to catch up before the spoilers find you. Marvel fans can also revisit our Captain America: Brave New World review for the bigger MCU picture.

5. Mandaadi (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 8, 2026 · Language: Tamil, with Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada dubs · Genre: Sports action drama

Soori plays Muthukaali, a skilled racer in a coastal community's traditional sailboat races, with Telugu star Suhas making his Tamil debut as his rival. Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj round out the cast, and Mathimaran Pugazhendhi directs. The film opened in theatres on September 10 and had a strong run before landing on Mandaadi's official Netflix page.

Why watch: A rousing underdog sports film set on water instead of a cricket pitch, and a career-best showcase for Soori as a leading man.

6. Epic: First Semester (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 · Language: Telugu, with Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi versions · Genre: Romantic drama

Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya (the Baby pair) reunite as two students navigating love, ambition and independence after moving to London for higher studies. Aditya Hasan makes his feature debut, with music by Hesham Abdul Wahab.

Why watch: A breezy, relatable coming-of-age romance for anyone who has studied, or dreamed of studying, abroad. Telugu cinema fans looking for something heavier can revisit our Aravinda Sametha review.

7. Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 · Language: Malayalam, with Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubs · Genre: Crime thriller

Parvathy Thiruvothu plays a newly recruited police constable caught in the fallout from a fatal incident at her station, as an investigator starts unravelling a cover-up. Mathew Thomas, Vijayaraghavan and Sidharth Bharathan co-star; Shahad Nilambur directs.

Why watch: Parvathy in a morally knotty police procedural is exactly the kind of grounded Malayalam thriller the industry does best. Fans of twisty family-crime stories should also read our Drushyam 2 review.

8. Khalifa: The Ruler (Prime Video and more)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 on Prime Video, Aha, ManoramaMAX, Lionsgate Play, STARZPLAY and Simply South · Language: Malayalam · Genre: Action thriller

Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Aamir Ali, an ordinary textile businessman pulled into the world of organised gold trading when a family legacy of power, money and the underworld catches up with him. Vysakh directs, and Mohanlal turns up in a cameo.

Why watch: Big-screen mass action with Prithviraj in full swagger mode, and it is on more platforms than almost any release this week.

9. Eyes (SonyLIV)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 · Language: Malayalam (multiple language options) · Genre: Psychological crime thriller

A police officer investigates a series of cases in which women are being watched and harassed, working with mental-health professionals to understand the obsession behind them. Kani Kusruti, Nikhila Vimal, Shruti Ramachandran and Saniya Iyappan lead the cast; Manu Ashokan directs from a script by Bobby-Sanjay.

Why watch: A sharp, female-led ensemble and a timely subject handled by one of Malayalam cinema's most reliable writing duos.

Hindi Pick of the Week

10. Reporting Live (Netflix)

Streaming from: October 9, 2026 · Language: Hindi · Genre: Investigative thriller

Parineeti Chopra plays a fearless reporter who, with her cameraman (Deven Bhojani), probes a deadly incident tied to illegal sand mining, only to find powerful people determined to bury the story. Amol Palekar, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman feature, and Dhruv Tripathi makes his directorial debut.

Why watch: A ground-level journalism thriller with real-world stakes and a meaty role for Parineeti.

Our Pick for the Weekend

If you watch just one thing, make it Mandaadi. It is the rare South Indian crowd-pleaser that works just as well at home, with a fresh sporting world, an emotional rivalry at its centre and dubs in five languages so the whole family can watch together. For a late-night double bill, follow it with the first two episodes of Below and keep the lights on.
